Post Sale Update: This RM465 sold for $4,550 after 33 bids on eBay.

The RM465 was Suzuki’s first open class MX bike with a single shock – it was the debut of a system that was marketed as the “Full Floater”. A Suzuki ad described it the 465 as “built from the ground up to lead the open class. Winning features include a new engine with more midrange and top end power. Full Floater rear suspension with aluminum swingarm to transfer more power to the ground, improved air assisted forks and many more refinements.

1981 was the first year of the RM465. This example (VIN: JS1RM11A0B2100352) was restored by Jeff Weier, and he’s got an album with more pictures here on SmugMug. The seller claims that “everything on this bike is new, OEM, or NOS”, and all the plastic is original. The motor has a .5mm bore with a Wiseco piston, and everything is said to work. The next owner will get a bill of sale, as this bike does not come with a title.
