Post Listing Update: This R90S did not meet reserve despite 39 bids up to $8,000 on eBay.

The R90S is one of BMW’s most famous bikes, and it was an instant game-changer when it was released in 1974. With oversight from Hans Muth, this bike was built to show the world that the German firm could make more than just touring bikes for old guys. Reg Pridmore helped solidify that claim with a first place finish in the first ever AMA Superbike Championship series in 1976. The original owner of this example (who owned it from 1975 to very recently) made it the bike of his dreams” and turned it into a definitive sport tourer with touring mods on a sportbike.

This example (VIN: 4980425) has 61,728 miles on the odometer, and the list of modifications is impressive. Per the seller (Motoworks Chicago), “This is one clean R90S that has been owned by the same person since 1975. He took meticulous care of it both mechanically and cosmetically. He made it the bike of his dreams, rode it for most of his life, and sold it to us when he decided he was too old to be riding it

Highlights of the upgrades include a larger oil pan, Hayden oil cooler, CUSH Drive driveshaft, EZ pull clutch, San Jose fork braces, EZ-Berg seat and luggage rack, Bates stand, Dyna electronic ignition, Fiamm horns, Krauser bags, aux lights, Touring bars, and even a master kill switch under the seat. Motoworks gave the bike a service and everything is said to work. I appreciate that the seller included 262 photos for you to pore over just about every detail.
