Story Intermission – Making New Britten Engines!

In Intermissions by AbhiLeave a Comment

There’s a very interesting thread over on ADVRider that recently got created and it’s not getting enough attention – some folks involved with the original Britten story are continuining it by making three more engines to support the folks who are still riding these out on the track!

I have nothing to do with this so I just want to send you to the link but I do want to give a special shout out to Bob Robbins – he’s had P-001 (the black/yellow Britten) since 2014 and has shared it at many motorcycling events. He also races AHRMA so you should go see him at their next race near you in 2026! He’s a truly awesome fellow that helps AHRMA with the air fence fund and I occasionally race against him in Sound of Singles 1 with our Kramer 690s. He added his signature to the collection on my race bike last year during the round at Inde Motorsports Ranch:

The bullet points:
– a crew of folks decided to make new engine parts as it was getting nervewracking for owners who wanted their Brittens to do more laps in case of general wear or catastrophic failure
– the original molds were gone but they were able to model everything in 3D and then sandcast in layers (similar to 3D printing)
– they’ve made three sets of top cases, bottom cases, and front/rear cylinder heads (in addition to several other parts)
– these are just for owners, no extras are being made so you can’t get yourself a sweet display engine
– of the three engines, one has been assembled

Go check out the thread here…I hope the thread gets more attention and more updates!
