Post Listing Update: This 9E project did not meet reserve despite 77 bids up to $33,900.

Featuring a “7-8 horsepower” engine, the Model 9E was a twin that had a roller chain transmission. 1913 got a few refinements over the previous year, including larger inlet and exhaust chambers, more clearance between the tires and mudguards, wider forks, and more. MSRP was $285. This bike is going to need some work as the motor is stuck, but it’s a rare example of an early HD twin that’s worth saving.

Harley-Davidson Model 9E - Engine

The second owner of this bike acquired it in 1921 – and the third owner acquired it just 5 years ago. Ignoring the stuck motor and a small amount of rot in the gas tank, it’s currently equipped with new tires and a reproduction primary cover. It’s been a display bike but now it needs a new home. Will it stay in display or will someone bring it back to life?
