Super Bowl XXIII – 1989 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Custom

Post-Listing Update: This Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Custom got no action on eBay at the $5,000 opening bid.

In 1989, the Super Bowl halftime show changed forever. After decades of parade floats and marching bands, a production company convinced the NFL to all out with a large performance. That first year, audiences were treated to a 50s-themed performance that featured, among other things, a few Harley-Davidson bikes. In response to this, Harley released just 102 examples of what’s become known as the Super Bowl Springers – the HD FLSTC with new fuel tank graphics, as well as custom saddlebags and seat. Today we’ve got one of those rare bikes, which unfortunately has a dent on the right side of the tank. Find this rarity for sale in Buchanan, New York with an opening bid of $5,000

Note that I’ve seen this same bike on Craigslist for an asking price of $10,000. The dent in the tank really hurts its value, as it will be hard to fix and/or replace the tank. If you’re serious about these bikes, head on over to Cleveland for a supposedly pristine model with just 801 miles for $19,999 here on Craigslist.
