Turbocharged – 1976 Kawasaki KZ900 LTD

In 1976, Kawasaki unveiled a “limited edition” factory custom of their KZ900, which differed in the inclusion of pulled back handlebars, king and queen seat, fat rear tire, dual disc front brakes, Mulholland shocks, Morris aluminum spoked wheels, and lots of chrome. This example has another feature that was added at the dealership – a turbocharger!

The 900 LTD started a popular trend and competitors had their own ‘factory customs’ available at their dealerships within a year. It lasted for just one year before getting bumped up to the 1000 LTD. For more on what made the LTD special, check out this profile on Motorcyclist.

This example (VIN: KZ900B-500348) is claimed to be a one owner bike that stands out as it had a ATP Turbo kit installed by the original dealer back in ’76. Everything is said to work – it even has the original tires, which you’ll want to replace if you want to add miles to the 5,935 on the odometer. As the seller states it, “everything except the turbo kit is original to this bike as it came from the factory,” which includes the original tool kit with feeler gauges. It was recently serviced with an oil filter, spark plugs, timing set, valve check, timing chain adjustment, new master cylinders, new battery, and more. It’s ready to ride:
