The “Ultimate” KLR – 2006 Kawasaki KLR650

In Dual-Sport, Japan by AbhiLeave a Comment

Whenever I see a listing that claims to be the ultimate example of a model, I’m usually disappointed. But today I’ve got a Kawasaki KLR650 that’s been modified so well, it might just be as good as it gets for the dough. The seller is willing to ride it to you, at which point you can take this bike up to Prudhoe Bay or down to Ushuaia.

Kawasaki KLR650 - Cockpit

The KLR650 is known the world over as a basic and durable dual-sport with a wide following and lots of aftermarket support, thanks to the fact that it basically went unchanged from 1987 to 2007. The 650 cc water-cooled engine was good for 37 horsepower. But what makes this bike stand out is how much work has been put into it. $4,821 worth of work, in fact. Highlights include the front fork swap from a KX450F, Cogent Dynamics Moab shock, ’09 KLR swingarm swap, 6.8 gallon IMS tank, Britannia fairing with upgraded lights, and much, much, more.

Kawasaki KLR650 - Left Side

This specific Kawasaki KLR650 also comes with a new Schnitz 685 kit ready to be installed, all the luggage you’d need to take a very long trip, and plenty of spares. It’s very rare when I find a KLR I like enough to feature here, but this well-maintained, well-upgraded, and well-priced bike deserves it.
