The BBC Archive comes through with another awesome look back at some classic motorsport, this time it’s a trials competition that combines natural terrain challenges with some artificial ones like riding through a dumpster that’s partially full of water and over a couple of cars (with wet, slippery tires)…oh yeah, and you have to wheelie through the end. It’s a great look at vintage trials, I really enjoy watching these air-cooled twin shock machines getting put through their paces and I hope you do, too!
Per the BBC Archive:
The Grand Final of the popular motorcycle trials show comes from Easton Neston Park in Northamptonshire.
Six top international trial riders come ‘under orders’ to compete for the title of Kick Start Champion 82. They all face an new, fiendishly difficult course plucked from the twisted mind of former two-time European Trials Champion, Mick Andrews. Andrews also joins presenter Peter Purves in the commentary box, to provide expert analysis.
The lineup for the final features two Americans; Curt Comer and Bernie Schreiber, two Brits; Peter Cartwright and Colin Boniface, Belgium’s Eddy Lejeune, and Kiyoteru Hattori from Japan.
