Brake Magazine has just started a video series that’s right up the alley of the average Bike-urious reader, I suspect: a comparison between modern machines and the retro bikes that inspired them. For the first episode, they look at the new 2019 Africa Twin versus a 1991 model.
One of the hosts makes an interesting point – nowadays, adventure bikes are the “flagships” of a given manufacturer, so you get all the technology and the pricing that comes with it. In the 90s, they were “just another bike in the range”. There’s nothing particularly shocking – progress is good – but it’s nice to see old and new playing together:
