Post Sale Update: This TW200 sold for $1,526 after 28 bids on eBay.

Over the years, Yamaha’s TW200 has barely changed – they just announced the specifications for the 2018 model a couple of months ago and it’s still going to be rocking carbs instead of fuel injection. In fact, over a 30+ year model run Yamaha has only given it one mechanical revision in what I assume Yamaha calls the “Great Awakening of 2001.” OK, they probably don’t call it that, but it included a front disc brake, cam chain pre-tensioner, removal of the kick starter, and a stronger headlight and alternator. None of that is going to apply to today’s feature bike – you can tell it’s from the 80s just by the paint scheme. All those upgrades are minor, meaning this has the potential to be a cheap, solid playbike.

There have already been 19 bids on this scoot and the action is still less than a grand – plus the reserve has been met. This example (VIN: JYA3AWE0SK0005731) has 5,492 miles on the odometer. Per the seller, it is “all original” and “in very good condition for its age.” Everything is said to work but the rear brake “squeaks a bit.”
