Post Sale Update: This 851 sold for $8,350 after 22 bids on eBay in Miami, Florida.


Introduced in 1987, the 851 made Ducati relevant in motorcycle racing again. It featured fuel injection, liquid cooling, and desmo 4V heads. 1992 as the last year of production – the next year Ducati would unveil the 888.

The 851cc L-Twin produced 104 horsepower and 52.5 pound feet of torque. Ducati specified Brembo brakes front and rear, and by 1990 the 851 had Showa forks and a Ohlins rear shock. Top speed was 155 miles per hour. For more on the 851, check out this review from Classic Motorbikes.

This example (VIN: ZDM1HB6R1NB003830) has 15,544 miles and everything mechanical is said to work. With that said, there are some cosmetic flaws (paint chips and some missing fairing screws). The seller says that it’s “otherwise a superb last year running bike that will only appreciate.”
