As if the final generation of Honda’s legendary 2-stroke 250cc bike wasn’t cool enough for you, here’s one that’s been wildly modified with a 300cc big bore kit, carbon fiber wheels, and full carbon fiber bodywork!

In 1991, Honda split the base and SP models of the NSR250R with the introduction of the SE (Super Edition) model. They had all of the SP goodies (dry clutch, adjustable suspension, special livery) except for the magnesium wheels. Come 1994, the Japanese firm updated the NSR with an all new model dubbed the MC28. The result was arguably the ultimate 250cc street bike in Japan thanks in no small part to the PGM-IV ignition and Pro-Arm single sided swingarm. Also notable was the memory card used to start the bike.

This example (VIN: MC281100447) takes things much further thanks to some serious upgrades – the seller states, “I had this bike imported from Japan in 2019 and it has been a ground up restoration modification to a total cost of over 40K with parts and labor.” He also claims it makes 72 horsepower thanks to the Tyga 300cc big bore kit with Wiseco pistons and VHM heads which has less than 200 miles on it. Other upgrades include the full carbon fiber bodywork (including the tank), Dymag CA5 carbon fiber wheels, CBR600RR upside down forks with K-DDS internals, a custom Penske fully adjustable shock, Brembo M4 calipers on Brembo 320mm rotors, and plenty more. The PGM-IV card ignition has been removed, as has the oil injection so you’ll have to run pre-mix. Extras include “front and rear stands, extra set of pistons, carb rebuild kit and service manuals.” Unfortunately, none of the stock parts are included but I guess that’s not a huge surprise when a bike has been customized this much.
