Fast is a relative term. If you are a Desert Tortoise, a mile a day advantage on the competition is enormous in Darwinian terms. If you are a part of the Latte sipping, scooter riding crowd in any city this Lambretta could spell domination in the all out race to the first stop light out of the coffee shop…

Lambretta built the S (Special) X 200 from January 1966 to January 1969 with a total of near 21,000 units produced. With obvious Italian styling and beauty, the real key to the model’s success was the ability to tune it for the race track. The base model was beautiful and reliable, but in 1966 Scooter Racing was a big thing in the UK. The SX 200 was aimed squarely at that market.

The stock 1966 Lambretta SX200 used a 198 CC single cylinder air cooled motor that made 11 HP for a top speed of 60 MPH. This particular SX 200 lists a 225 CC two stroke with improved carburation, a 5 speed transmission and the ability to run at 80 MPH. Dry weight of 242 LBS, front and rear brakes on 10” wheels complete the package.

This particular 1966 Lambretta SX 200 (Frame # 835927) is in Orange, CA and is listed as a ‘repainted, gently used original’ with significant motor work. The bike is not cosmetically perfect, but it seems everything is there including the Castrol can on the cowling. Nice touch. The bike has a current bid of $5,600.00
