Here’s a crazy custom of a rat bike built with a Redneck Engineering frame around a Buell XB9S engine. There’s a lot of bare metal and a custom seat, but the really interesting things are a fuel tank made out of two air compressor tanks and an oil tank made out of a fire extinguisher. What do you think?
1966 Bultaco Mercurio 200
Also known as the Model 35, here’s a lovely restored example of the the Bultaco Mercurio 200.
3 Years Brand New – 2012 Aprilia Mana 850 GT
One of Aprilia’s least-known bikes, the Mana featured a 839cc that produced 54 horsepower and…a 7-speed automatic transmission. Unlike the auto found in Honda’s current offerings, though, the Mana features button shifters for your left hand AND the usual foot shifter. For more on the Mana, check out this review from Motorcycle.com, which ponders if this bike is some sort …
1978 Bultaco Streaker
Post Listing Update: The seller of this Bultaco lowered the opening bid – bidding died out at $3,150 with the reserve not met. One of the most desirable models from the Spanish company, the Bultaco Streaker was a beautiful little cafe racer that was only produced for 3 years. Rumors suggest that just 28 were imported into the US before …
Drill, Baby, Drill – DPX Drill-Powered Pit Bike
An aluminum mini bike with a thumb throttle and twin disc brakes, this DPX pit bike is powered by…a cordless drill.
Auction Preview – BC Vintage Metric Motorcycle Swap Meet
On March 7th and 8th, the Boone County Swap Meet will go down in Lebanon, Indiana. They’ve got a few cool bikes, like a Mobylette 50cc scooter, ATK 450 Enduro, and such. Click here for the full list. Normally when I do these “Auction Previews” I exhibit some odd taste – get ready for a few choices that are even …
1974 Kawasaki S3 Mach 2
Post-Listing Update: Despite being relisted, this bike did not meet reserve with bidding getting up to $3,051. After Kawi had firmly established the ‘widowmaker’ reputation of the H1 and H2, one might have expected that the smaller displacement variants (S1-S3) would also be similarly hairy. But the S3 was designed to be a better street bike, with slightly lower peak …
One Year In The US – 1977 Honda CT125
Post Sale Update: This CT125 sold for the BIN of $3,800. Though it was sold from 1976-1985, the Honda CT125 Trail was only imported to the US in 1977. Think of it as a XL125 with a comfier seat, designed for farm use. It has some additional minor differences, like a fully enclosed chainguard, one person seat, smaller (19″) front …
$10k for 4 Bikes – Vertemati Collection
Vertemati is not a well known company, but they used to make some very high-strung exotics. Here’s four of those exotics from the 2002 model year so you can start a collection of bikes that are silly fast, very rare, and maintenance-heavy.
Nate Kern’s Personal Bike – 2013 BMW HP4
The personal bike of BMW factory rider (and S1000RR ambassador) Nate Kern, this HP4 is #655 and has just 3,300 miles. Normally I get to list all kinds of accessories and farkles that have been added to a bike, but this sale includes one free trackday at Roebling Road.
Custom Honda CX650 Cafe Racer
Built by retired master tech Kevin Murphy, this bike is based on a CX650 Turbo frame that has been joined with the front frame section of a GL500. That’s combined with suspension from a CBR954RR and the gas tank and exhaust system from a European-market GL650. Lots of different Honda parts came together to make this pleasant custom which sort …
1975 Norton Commando 850 Interstate
By 1975, the portfolio of Commando models had consolidated to just two variants – the Mk3 Interstate and the Roadster. As you’d probably guess, the Interstate was better suited for touring with modifications like a larger tank (25 v. 11 liters), mudguards, lower exhaust to make room for panniers (which never happened), different gearing, and more.
1972 Moto Guzzi V7 Sport
Post Listing Update: This V7 Sport was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown. My favorite Guzzi, the Moto Guzzi V7 Sport is still one of the most famous Guzzis ever made. Produced in small numbers (about 3,500) for only three years, it represented a change in focus for the firm. After years of truck-like bikes such as the …
1975 Yamaha RS100
Here’s a clean example of the tiny two-stroker Yamaha RS100 which is claimed to be very clean and to run great. It has 3200 miles. Find it for sale in Buffalo, New York for a healthy $3,000 or best offer here on Craigslist. This bike-uriousity brought to you by Jim R!
Never in the US – 1964 Honda CZ100
Post Listing Update: This CZ did not meet reserve despite 14 bids up to £6,100 ($7,953). Honda’s first monkey bike was the Z100 – this CZ100 was its replacement. This is one of the later models, as it’s equipped with a red tank. It’s got such a distinctive look, but the CZ100 was never imported to the US for Americans …
