There are always some sort of exotic vehicles in Bond movies. In “Tomorrow Never Dies,” Pierce Brosnan had a chase scene on a BMW R1200C. Now, I know Pierce Brosnan is no Sean Connery, but he WAS better than Timothy Dalton or George Lazenby, but I digress…

I’m not sure what is going on there – maybe his left arm was injured, so she is working the clutch or whatever…

Anyway, you too can re-enact this chase – here is the bike. You just need to provide the babe…

Editor’s Note – here’s the chase (the odd seating position comes about because they’re handcuffed together):

This is a 1998 R1200C. It was BMW’s attempt to catch just a portion of the Harley/Cruiser craze in the US. The mill was the standard boxer twin of the day, putting out a modest 44hp, and suspension was standard BMW telelever front and single shock rear, but this was primarily a styling exercise. There was lots of polished metal and even – chrome! – to go with the traditional BMW cream paint and pinstriping. Long pullback bars added to the cruiser stance. The pillion seat could be flipped forward and became a backrest for the solo saddle if desired.

I remember when this bike came out that the styling was somewhat polarizing. People either loved it or hated it. Magazines didn’t quite know what to make of it. It got generally favorable reviews for performance and handling. BMW got credit for trying to make an American style cruiser, but it never really caught on, and was always a sort of niche, or cult bike.

This 1200C was produced 1997-2004, and this bike is a 1998 model. It shows 21,000 miles on the clock – not a lot by BMW standards. Pictures look pretty clean, and I bet the owner has service records…
