Post Listing Update: Though it was relisted, this custom Triumph did not meet reserve with 18 bids up to $9,300. Here’s a custom Bonnie that’s been rebuilt with an interesting sense of style.
“The Executive” – 2012 BMW K75 Custom
Post-Sale Update: This K75 Custom did not meet reserve with bidding up to $8,701. Larry and Carol Romestant of Romestant Engineering have been building flying brick customs for a few years now – Jay Leno featured some of his builds in a previous JLG segment, and one of them is now up for sale. Based on a BMW K75C, this …
2007 Honda CRF450 Flat Tracker
Post Sale Update: After 46 bids on eBay, this CRF450 Flat Tracker sold for $7,301. I just discovered MotoViejo, an online consignment shop that has offered some great motorcycles in the past (like this Honda SL350 AHRMA racer I featured previously). Of note, it’s run by none other than David Edwards, former editor-in-chief (for 21 years!) of Cycle World. It’d …
1 of 200 – 2013 Ducati Monster 1100 EVO 20th Anniversary
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Monster, Ducati released limited special editions of the 696, 796, and 1100 EVO. Each bike got a special cosmetic package including the original red livery, 90s style mirrors, and the Ducati font from 1986 on the tank.
1995 Triumph Trident 900
When John Bloor brought Triumph back from the dead in 1991 with the factory in Hinckley, he made the wise decision to over-engineer the first models to help break in the new Triumph with a good reputation. Because of that, these ‘early’ modern Triumphs are workhorses that can be picked up for decent prices, as long as you can deal …
1958 Harley-Davidson Hummer
Post Listing Update: This Hummer was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown. Between 1948 and 1966, Harley-Davidson produced a series of two-stroke, three-speed small displacement thumpers that were based on the DKW RT125 (blueprints were obtained as part of reparations for WWII). The Hummer was built between ’55 and ’59, but that name has somehow evolved to encompass …
1938 Indian Four Model 438
Post-Sale Update: After 46 bids on eBay, this 438 sold for $66,100. After Indian got a wake up call with the flop that was the upside-down Four, they went back to the inlet over exhaust arrangement for their Model 438, which featured completely enclosed valve gear and aluminum heads. Some consider this to be the finest, most collectible Indian ever …
Speedbrain Rally Racer – BMW 450RR
3-23-16 Update: Reader Kendall notes that this Speedbrain G450RR is still up for sale here on ADVRider (registration required) in El Paso, Texas, but now there’s better photos and the asking price is down to $18,995. Who feels like buying me an early Christmas present? The HP2 Sport, the R100RS Motorsport, and the R80G/S I recently featured were all produced …
1984 Laverda Jota RGA
Post Listing Update: Despite being relisted, this RGA got no interest at the opening bid of $12,500. One of Laverda’s most iconic motorcycles was the RGS, an iconic sport tourer that Massimo Laverda once said was a “Real Grand Sport”. In ’84 and ’85, Laverda also offered a budget version called the RGA, and while most came with a chin …
1976 Honda CB400F Super Sport
Post Sale Update: This CB400F sold for $7,500 after 58 bids on eBay. More of an evolution rather than a revolution, the Honda CB400F has one of the most distinctive exhaust systems ever produced – known by some as the “waterfall pipes”. Though it wasn’t as fast as its competition, this little four cylinder was smoother, quieter, and gave better …
Restored Mini Bike – 1970 Ruttman Wild Goose
Post-Sale Update: After 36 bids on eBay, this Ruttman sold for just $800. Based out of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, Ruttman offered a variety of mini bikes called the “Uglys”, named after “the world’s ugliest little creatures all ready to unleash a whole pack of fun.” You could get a Pak Mule, Horny Toad, Vulture, Spyder, Grasshopper, or the Wild Goose …
Restored – 1968 BMW R50/2
Post-Sale Update: This R50/2 sold for the BIN of $10,250 on eBay. Restored less than 500 miles ago by Barrington Motor Works in New Hampshire, this BMW R50/2 looks to be an excellent example of the breed that’s ready for daily-ish rider duty.
1984 Harley-Davidson FLHX Special Edition
In 1984, Harley-Davidson released a Special Edition to close out production of the Shovelhead (though apparently there were ’85 models that were produced on contract for certain state authorities). Frankly, there’s some conflicting stories on the end of the Shovelhead run but according to Shovelhead.us, 791 white and 467 black examples were produced of the FLHX Special Edition. As you …
24 Miles – 2000 Excelsior Henderson Super X
In the early 1900s, Excelsior and Henderson were two of America’s best motorcycle manufacturers. Excelsior produced the first motorcycle to official hit 100 miles per hour, while Henderson was producing the favored bikes of America’s police officers. There’s a reason for the similarities – the companies were both bought up by Schwinn in the 1910s, and were shut down in …
1973 DKW Hornet
In the early 70s, DKW offered two versions of their 125cc “Moto-Cross” bike. One option featured a nifty Boge leading link front suspension (like in this previously featured example). The other utilized Betor telescopic forks with 6.75″ of travel. That’s what today’s bike is, and it was called the Hornet.
