Land Speed Racer – 1965 Honda S65

In Japan, Race, Small Displacement by AbhiLeave a Comment

A few days ago I featured a Honda S65 that was quite original. This one…isn’t. It’s not just for show, though, it apparently set a LSR record at the Ohio Mile last month!

Called Project TARDIR (obviously a play on the TARDIS of Doctor Who), this little Honda was created when the builders thought to themselves, “what would Honda have designed back in ’65 with a S65 if they wanted to go land speed racing?” Now it’s ready to compete in the “Classic Class” – pre 1981, aircooled with the original cases and head.

Obviously the engine has been modified quite a bit, the highlights of which include a displacement bump up to 88cc, 3 angle seat valves, Kitaco NOS race camshaft, and a custom oil cooler. But for me the body is the coolest parts, especially the custom leading link fork. Total build time was 485 hours and it weighs just 135 pounds wet! Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find out just how fast this bike went last month, and I’m surprised that said number isn’t in the listing anywhere (either that or I’ve forgotten how to read). Find this little Honda for sale in Creston, North Carolina for $4,000 here on Brew Racing Frames.
