Honda’s excellent VF750 Interceptor was scaled down to 700cc in 1984 to get around the newly implemented import tariffs on large cc bikes in the United States. Honda achieved this with a shorter stroke on the crank, leaving the rest of the bike mostly untouched.
Impressively, this VF700F is being offered by the original owner, and the seller says it’s the first new bike he ever bought. It was his daily rider in the 80s, 90s, and early 00s and it’s got roughly 42,500 miles on it. “I’m reluctantly selling it as bicycling, grandchildren, and two-up touring on a newer motorcycle are taking up my time. Unlike some Honda V4s of this era my bike did not have the soft camshafts but I put an oiling kit in it, anyway.”
Upgrades include engine guards, Sargent seat, Hagon shock, Progressive fork springs, and Dodge Racing Products oiling kit. The sale includes the tool kit, cam holding tool, owner’s manual, service manual, and the original license plate bracket from the selling dealership, Carmichael Honda. “The tank, fairing, and tail pieces are perfect; no dents or scratches. The lower cowl has some minor scuffs where I foolishly rode off a curb years ago.”
