Yes, this one’s from a month ago. But here are some highlights of bikes (and cars) I encountered on a quick ride out to the Rock Store and the Old Place…enjoy!
Over at the Rock Store, we had some old…

I then went over to the Old Place, which I have to admit I like more than the Rock Store (at least in terms of the food/drink/ambiance). Obviously there aren’t nearly as many bikes to ogle over, but there are a bunch of cars.
As you can probably guess, I took my Bimota Tesi 3D out for the day – some of the steering bushings are starting to fail after 20K+ miles so I think I’ll have to park the bike for a bit while I wait for parts. My buddy Mike joined me on his MV Agusta Superveloce. The next day it started to have cooling system issues and it’s been at the dealer for three weeks. This is his 4th MV and he’s giving up on the bike, he just bought a Ducati Streetfighter V4S to replace it (and he loves it).

There were also a bunch of cars, like this Lamborghini Murcielago.

An imported Toyota Chaser Tourer V (these had a 1JZ-GTE engine, pretty closely related to the famous 2JZ in the Supra Mk4). It’s nearly impossible to get a California plate for these due to emissions so you’ll see a lot with Washington plates as there’s several companies in that state who specialize in importing JDM vehicles. One of my favorites is Adam and Kai over at SodoMoto – they import cars and bikes and it’s always fun to browse their oddball inventory.

A lot of modern McLarens look the same to me and I haven’t been intrigued enough to learn the differences, but I was entranced by the rear aerodynamics of this model. Anyone know which one it is?

Some cool 4-wheelers that drove by:

There was even transport of the 4-legged variety:

It is a rule that I have to stop whenever I see a Back to the Future Delorean tribute:

There was a lovely 6 series, but it was not my favorite BMW of the day:

That award goes to this crazy 3 Series-amino built by Devine Motorworkz! I got a chance to speak with the owner/builder, a very nice guy but I apologize as I have forgotten his name.

After all that, we ended up going for a ride…and at a stop someone behind me noticed something in my tire:

I’m glad he mentioned something, as it turns out my Pirelli ate a key!

That cut our ride a little bit short so I took it easy and rode into Santa Monica for lunch at Lobster and Beer.

Check out who drove by while we were parking – Aaron Colton!

Oddly enough, we saw another Red Bull-sponsored athlete while having lunch. Some of you may have heard of this while it was happening but Arda Saatçi was wrapping up a crazy 600 kilometer (372 mile, or basically 14 back to back marathons) run from Death Valley to Santa Monica! His goal was to do it in 96 hours but it ended up taking him 123 hours and 21 minutes, which is still shockingly impressive. I was happy for him but also glad to lazily sit on my ass and sip on a beer while catching up with my friends…
