Rare Project – 1989 Cagiva Elefant 750 Bifaro Lucky Explorer

Post Listing Update: This Cagiva was pulled off of eBay due to “an error in the listing”.

The Elefant is a rare bike in the US, though we only saw it officially imported in 900 guise. Much harder to find in America is the 750cc version, which was introduced in 1987. The following year, Cagiva gave the 750 a double headlight, which is where the Italian name of “Bifaro” comes from. They also offered a Lucky Explorer in 1989, and that’s the rare project in front of you now.

The 748cc v-twin engine pushes 53 horsepower through a 5-speed transmission, enough for a claimed top speed of approximately 110 miles per hour. This example was originally sold in London, England, though it later made its way to South Africa before being imported to the US. The seller states that it last run two months ago but the engine “needs work”, the gas tank isn’t connected, the carbs need a tune up, and the brakes are soft. The sale includes two spare motors and a “load of extra parts” to help you out. Hopefully someone out there thinks this oddball is worth saving!
