In 1987, Honda updated the VFR400 to the NC24 generation – it was Honda’s first bike to use the Pro-Arm single-side swingarm that became a Honda staple in the 90s.

The base NC24 is a wonderful bike that constantly won 400cc shootouts. General specs were 59 horsepower, 29 lb-ft of torque, and a dry weight of 364 pounds. But for one year, Honda offered an official Rothmans replica livery, and that’s what makes this particular bike so interesting.

This example has approximately 20,536 miles and it’s just had a recent service which includes a carb rebuild, oil/filter change, hydraulic fluid flush, new cush drive rubbers, new batter, and new chain. It also has a few upgrades, like the front end from a Honda CBR600F2 (17″ front wheel) and a Penske shock. Per the seller, “this bike runs as it should, starts immediately warm or cold. Idles well, pulls hard up to its 14 K redline, no fluid leaks or smoke out of the pipe. All electrical works correctly. This gear driven cams V4 sounds amazing and has legendary durability. Known issues are a dent and a few dings in the gas tank, and a few cracks and scratches in the bodywork and some typical patina found on JDM bikes.”
