Set Up For Street – 1969 Rickman Metisse MkIV

Post Sale Update: This streetable Metisee sold for $5,200 after 27 bids on eBay.

The seller has had this bike since 1985 – he bought it because he needed “a fast, nimble ride to navigate the congested Silicon Valley traffic” he dealt with on his commute. He rebuilt it upon acquisition and rode it just about daily for four years, but then he “pushed it a little hard and broke a con rod.” He then rebuilt it again with a T100R motor (original included) to what you see here. What do you think of it? I dig it. I think the wheels look a little goofy and I’d rather see spokes, but I like how different this is. I’m considering it the Ur-Supermoto.

This bike (VIN: 1825) features wheels and brakes from a Kawasaki KZ550 and instrumentation for street legality (lights, horn, speedometer, and turn signals). The T100R motor recently got .020 over pistons, and the seller added the following in the last years: new tires, front brake pads, handlebar, battery, LED taillight, chain/rear sprocket, and more. It has a Boyer electronic ignition and the tank has been Caswell sealed.
