Restoration Project – 1975 Triumph T160

So everybody has room for one more project, right? Another “I’ll get that one right after the one I’m working on now” space. This 1975 Trident could be that bike. In 1975, the Triumph Trident was re-introduced as the T160 (formerly T150) and had some significant upgrades, most notably electric start. Big and fast, the Trident was a real player in the muscle bike category in 1975.

The 1975 Triumph T160 used a 741 CC air cooled transverse 3 cylinder OHV pushrod motor that made a robust 60 HP. Handling was considered extraordinary at the time and the single disc brakes fore and aft were considered adequate. The five speed transmission and horsepower pushed the heavy (502 LBS dry) Trident to a top speed of 120 mph.

Currently the Trident has a starting bid of $2000 and the auction ends Monday, September 5th. Frame and engine numbers match (EK 04072) and the dealer has many of the missing parts. The really good news? Parts are very available considering that there were only about 7,000 of them made. If only my ‘64 Chevelle were done and out of my workspace I might be a player…

This particular T160 is available from GP Motorcycles in San Diego, CA and you can see all of it right
