After Suzuki introduced the RG Gamma series in 1983, the line grew to span displacements ranging from 250-500cc. Of particular note was the RG400 Gamma Walter Wolf, as it was a two year only model that was exclusively sold in Japan.
Along with an advanced aluminum box frame, the RG400 also featured Suzuki’s “Full Floater” rear suspension and a water cooled square four. The 397cc engine produced 59 horsepower at 9,000 rpm. The livery came about because of an Austrian businessman by the name of Walter Wolf. Having made his money in oil, Wolf proceeded to fund his passion for motorsport, first by sponsoring an F1 team and subsequently by sponsoring an RG500. In celebration of the bike’s seven Grand Prix championships, Suzuki sold 99 examples of a street homologated race bike in the Canadian market. Not the be left out, Japan got a limited edition of the RG400 (as you see before you) done up in the paint job.
This example also comes with an aftermarket set of Airtech bodywork that is done up with the famous Pepsi livery. It has 6,798 kilometers (4,224 miles, the below mileage photo is from a while back with the WW bodywork equipped), JL exhaust, and several Lance Gamma parts – air filters, ball valves, petcock, etc. It comes with the stock bodywork, wheels, exhaust, airbox, and more…plus it’s California plated.
