My buddy Joe B works at LAX, and he noticed this oddball parked in one of the structures. I do not have any idea what it is, so I’m wondering if one of you fine folks can figure it out. I don’t yet know the answer to this question, so please tell me, what is this bike?

It’s new-ish, it’s rare, and it’s no longer in production. Can you guess what it is?

This one is up for debate as there’s no definitive answer, however I do feel fairly confident in awarding the ‘best guess’ award (if I had such a thing) to dnaj for his suggestion of the Suzuki GS450/550L. Double kudos are now owed to commenter jhelle: not only was he the first to correctly guess the BMW Futuro from last week’s episode of Guess That Bike, he now follows it up with his own submission of an interesting bike to guess. So…guess this bike!

Congrats to jhelle, who quickly identified that this was the cockpit of the BMW Futuro prototype! Introduced in 1980, the Futuro utilized a turbocharged version of BMW’s iconic boxer twin, wrapped in some outlandish bodywork. It was built via a partnership with Rainer Buchmann, the automobile customizer. Among other things, it featured the first carbon fiber/kevlar full fairing in motorcycling.

Here’s the cockpit of a prototype that obviously never made it to production. Can you tell what it is?
