Here’s JR’s first post – and it comes with bonus information on cigars!
1969 Honda CB750 Hill Climber
For a variety of reasons, the Honda CB750 is a popular base for customs – though I don’t see many hillclimbers based on the CB. Here’s one that was apparently turned into a racer right off the showroom floor.
1942 Excelsior Villiers Welbike
Post-Listing Update: This Welbike got no action at the opening bid of $11,000. At the request of the British government, Excelsior developed the Welbike, a tiny single seater that was designed to be dropped into combat situations via parachute-equipped containers, then unpacked and moving on the road within 11 seconds.
Needs Some Work – 1970 Hercules K125BW
BW stands for Bundeswehr, or Germany’s armed forces, so you can probably guess what this Hercules was designed for!
BSA Style From Japan – 1966 Kawasaki W1
In 1960 Kawasaki Aircraft acquired part of the largest motorcycle manufacturer in Japan, Meguro. Meguro had a license to produce the BSA A7 and Kawasaki’s money allowed them to introduce it to the world. In 1963 Kawasaki completed the takeover of Meguro and by 1966 had brought out the W1.
1967 BSA Hornet
Built from 1964 through 1967 the Hornet was marketed as ready to ride in the dirt. It came in 2 variants, the ‘East Coast Model’ with high pipes and the ‘West Coast Model’ with low mounted pipes.
Tall Trike – 1960 Harley-Davidson Servicar Custom
Post Sale Update: After 37 bids on eBay, this Servicar custom sold for $20,400. Based on a HD Servicar, this custom was built ‘in the style of Ed Roth’s trike body’.
1937 DKW RT100
Just another rare bike from a once large manufacturer? No particular significance? Not exactly.
1 of 250 – 2015 MV Agusta F4 RC
View PostTurbocharged Speed – 1982 Honda CX500T
In 1982 I thought Honda had just tried to upsell the market some cheap horsepower by putting a turbo on the CX500. Upon further review there is more to the story.
3 Classic Mopeds
A seller in Los Angeles is letting go of three oddball mopeds – two run, but the third isn’t producing a spark.
1970 Speedway Silver Shadow
Post Listing Update: This Silver Shadow did not meet reserve despite 26 bids up to $7,500. I’m not a huge fan of minibikes, but this is one of the most collectible of them all. Don’t believe me? Well, bidding is already up to $7,300 with plenty of time to go in this auction. I’ve seen one or two non-definitive mentions …
1963 Moto Guzzi Falcone 500 Sport
Despite the fact it was built between 1950 and 1963s, the design of the Falcone is impressively similar to the first production Guzzi from back in 1921. The 499cc single produced 23 horsepower, good for a top speed of about 85 miles per hour.
1967 MTD Trail Flite Mini Bike
One of the rarer trail bikes out there, the Trail Flite stood out with features like wire wheels, drum brakes, and the nifty leading link suspension.
2014 Ducati 1199 Panigale Superleggera
Every so often a motorcycle comes along that is just too beautiful. On the Superleggera beauty is way more than skin deep.
