In 2003, Harley-Davidson released a 100th Anniversary edition of it’s venerable Road King. A very small amount of these bikes (known internally as the FLHRCI) came with a matching factory sidecar, with a total MSRP of nearly $29,000. This example is particularly worth noting as it’s being offered by one of my favorite Bike-urious readers!
1975 Benelli Quattro 500
Post-Sale Update: This Benelli Quattro 500 sold for $4,150 on eBay. The Benelli Quattro – named for its four-cylinder engine, was built under Alejandro de Tomaso’s leadership in an attempt to revitalize Benelli and to directly take on the Japanese (particularly Honda’s CB500 Four). In fact, de Tomaso bought a CB500 for his engineers and told them to ‘get inspiration’ …
2004 Ducati 998 Matrix Reloaded Edition
As a vehicle aficionado, I thought the best part of the Matrix Reloaded was the incredible chase scene which was basically a GM ad. Just for the movie, production crews built a 1.5 mile freeway on old runways of a decommissioned Naval Air Station. At some point in the scene, a Ducati 996 is featured for some high-speed lane splitting:
Boxer Bicycle – 1949 Jack and Heintz Twin
Based out of Cleveland, Jack and Heintz was a motor manufacturer that, among other products, built engines for drone airplanes in WWII. This engine was utilized in a kit called the Marman Twin (based on a purposed built Schwinn MP97), as well as other frames for one-off bikes like this Shelby framed example. The engine is a two-stroke boxer with …

1947 Indian Chief
My favorite cruiser is probably the Indian Chief. There are usually plenty for sale around the country at any given time, so I try to avoid flooding this site with them. But every once in a while I see one that stands out, and you’re thus forced to see it.
1974 Indian MX74
In the 70s, Indian offered a few small displacement off-roaders. One of the “better’ known ones (though that’s definitely a relative term in this case) was the Indian MX74. Advertising at the time touted an aluminum engine, full double loop frame, full floating rear brake, and other non-revolutionary features. This example runs great and is almost completely original – with …
974 Miles – 1975 John Player Norton Commando
The Norton Commando was a bike that spawned many variants just based on cosmetic differences. The most collectible of these models was the John Player Norton Commando, a distinctive endurance-inspired Norton with unique bodywork surrounding a completely stock Mark 2A Commando. We’ve never thought the dual headlights upfront were very attractive, but they caught they eyes of many fans who …

Krauser Racer – 1978 BMW R100RS
Post Sale Update: After 40 bids on eBay, this racer sold for $13,000. We’ve featured a Krauser MKM1000 (based on the R100RS) before, but this racer caught my eye as it features the MKM frame, is unfaired, and features an incredible amount of high-performance parts. Unfortunately, it’s also currently not running, so you’ll need to take care of a couple …
Iron Pig – 1972 MZ Trophy ES
Post-Sale Update: This Iron Pig sold for $2,247 after 48 bids on eBay. Nicknamed the TV Lamp due to the headlight (or the Iron Pig due to the generally ugly looks), the MZ Trophy ES was a quick seller in East Germany due to a lack of competition and a focus on practicality. 1967 brought the ES 250/2, which is …
1972 Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth Trike – American Beetle
Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth is a legend in the hot rod and rock-art community, thanks to his creations like Rat Fink. While his focus was on building cars, he did have a phase where he focused on trikes. The “American Beetle” was one of those creations, with a 36 horsepower engine from a VW Beetle and the front fork from …
1988 Laverda SFC 1000
Post Listing Update: This Laverda RGS did not meet reserve despite 26 bids up to $11,100 on eBay. I’ve been on a little bit of a Laverda kick this last week, but it’s hard not to share these fantastic bikes when they come up for sale. So with that said, here’s one of the last examples of the classic orange …
1966 Honda S90
In a weird alternative reality that I dream about, every motorcycle rider has a Honda S90 in the garage, so I’ve got to share them with the world when good examples come up for sale. This beauty has been restored both cosmetically and mechanically – you’ll get new paint, seals, fork springs/boots, tires/tubes, and much more. In addition, the top …
1 of 200 – 1978 BMW R100RS Motorsport
Post Listing Update: This RS did not meet reserve despite 17 bids up to $6,100. A classic in its own right, the BMW R100RS needs no introduction. However, in 1978, BMW released a limited edition – the Motorsport. 200 were sold in the United States.
