It’s hard to tell, but there’s actually a scooter in there. A scooter you might recognize as the Honda Express, with a 50cc engine putting down all of 3.8 horsepower. Honda created a very unsuccessful three-wheeler by putting a fiberglass body around the scooter, and called their creation the Honda Caren.
Great Deal – 2013 Suzuki V-Strom 650 with Sidecar
I sometimes wonder if I’m best serving you by showing you incredible bikes with giant pricetags, or more mundane bikes that are great buys. I still don’t know what the correct answer is, so for now you’re stuck getting a little bit of both. Here’s one of the latter – a Suzuki V-Strom 650 with matching DMC M72D Sidecar. The …
“Bike” Review – Morgan 3 Wheeler
First things first: If you’ve been reading Bike-urious for a while, you’ll know that this is my first vehicle review (and also the most I’ve used the word “first” in a sentence). I apologize in advance – this probably won’t be what you expect from a review, as I don’t have a big budget or fancy equipment. I just have …
Go Anywhere – 1942 Zundapp KS750 Sidecar
Post-Listing Update: Despite 18 bids up to $30,100, this Zundapp KS750 Sidecar did not meet reserve on eBay. The Zundapp KS750 was built for the Wehrmacht to go anywhere. Thanks to cylinders that were angled up 5 degrees for additional ground clearance, as well as a 10 speed gearbox, the claim was almost possible.
4 Seater – 1938 Bohmerland Lang Touren
Post-Listing Update: Thought it was relisted, this Bohmerland did not get any action at $79,000. I’m the first one to admit I do not know enough about this bike, but just look at it! Bohmerland was a Czechoslovakian firm that built bikes between ’24 and ’39, so this would be one of the last ones they built. All of their …
“The Rolls-Royce of Bikes” – 1936 Brough Superior SS80
Post Listing Update: 23 bids on eBay got the action up to $60,300, but that wasn’t enough to meet reserve. When Paul D’Orleans, the man behind The Vintagent, says that a Brough Superior is the most beautiful production motorcycle ever made, then I listen. And while he’s a fan of the ’28 SS100 model, this SS80 should still check all …
2005 Ural Troyka
One of the best parts of running this site is discovering bikes I had never even heard about before. Reader Jim R. comes through with yet another one with this Ural Troyka, a variant of the tourist that gives a little more luxury with telescopic forks and a “deluxe sidecar” designed to provide “the utmost of comfort…on unhurried scenic rides”, …
Delivery Sidecar – 1965 BMW R60/2 with Steib LT-200
Full disclosure – I may just be featuring this bike because of the novel sidecar and the picture with dogs. But the bike itself is well equipped with bags, Denfield seats, the sport gas tank, and the engine has been rebuilt. Still, the Steib Package/Delivery Sidecar is very rare (the seller suggests there might only be one other left in …
Reader Ride – 2003 Harley-Davidson Road King Sidecar
In 2003, Harley-Davidson released a 100th Anniversary edition of it’s venerable Road King. A very small amount of these bikes (known internally as the FLHRCI) came with a matching factory sidecar, with a total MSRP of nearly $29,000. This example is particularly worth noting as it’s being offered by one of my favorite Bike-urious readers!
1972 Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth Trike – American Beetle
Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth is a legend in the hot rod and rock-art community, thanks to his creations like Rat Fink. While his focus was on building cars, he did have a phase where he focused on trikes. The “American Beetle” was one of those creations, with a 36 horsepower engine from a VW Beetle and the front fork from …
1964 BMW R69S with Steib Sidecar
You guys seem to love the classic BMW’s, so let me feed your appetite with this beautiful R69S that comes with a Steib sidecar. It’s original and unrestored and has just 11,000 miles on the odometer. The seller includes a video of the bike running, and considers the paint quality to be a 7. Find this BMW R69S with Steib …
1953 BMW R67/2 Sidecar Racer
The first postwar 600cc BMW, the R67 was produced for one year before the R67/2 was sold between ’52 and ’54. 4,226 units were sold before BMW moved to the /3, but this specific /2 has been converted into a very cool sidecar racer.
1975 Rupp Centaur
Post-Sale Update: This Rupp Centaur sold for the BIN of $3,500. Founded in 1959, Rupp Manufacturing started out as a kart manufacturer in Mansfeld, Ohio. Within 10 years, they had grown to a 400-employee shop pumping out mini-bikes, go-karts, snowmobiles, and a 3-wheeler appropriately named the Rupp Centaur.
1999 Kawasaki ZRX1100 Sportcycle
Designed by Jim Musser, a former GM engineer, the Sportcycle is almost like a Kawasaki ZRX1100 where the front forks and tire have been replaced by a cockpit. For more information, check out this article from The Kneeslider. Though the paint job is different, the bike offered for sale is actually the same one featured in the article. Find this …
Chinese Police – 1984 Chang Jiang M5A Sidecar
4-11 Update: After topping out at $2,081.56 and then being relisted only to hit $1,881.56, this Chang Jiang M5A Sidecar is again up for sale. Maybe the third time’s the charm – find it here on eBay. This rare bird is a Chang Jiang M5A Sidecar that served as a Beijing Armed Police Motorcycle for 12 years. If you’re looking …
