Quite a discount from the last sale price four years ago! 1-31-2019 Update: Over four years later, this Poirier has been imported to the US and it’s now back up for sale in Tipton, Iowa. Considering that it sold for $5,555 last time in Belgium and that …
Rare Project – 1983 Honda Gyro X
Post Sale Update: This Gyro X sold for $1,894.13 after 21 bids on eBay. I’ve featured several examples of Honda’s quirky 3-wheeler called the GYRO (which is apparently an acronym for “Great Your Recreation Original.”) The US only got one of the versions, a “S” model that was focused on just carrying a rider around. But Japan got multiple variants …
Yamaha’s Yard Built Program — Deus Milan’s “D-Side” XV950 Sidecar
Built by Deus Ex Machina’s Milan shop, this bike was commissioned as the third project — and first sidecar build — in Yamaha’s increasingly prestigious Yard Built program. Based on the Tuning Fork Company’s XV950, this project, entitled “D-Side”, began when Fillipo Bassoli, CEO of Deus Ex Machina Italy, was traveling for work in Spain and stumbled across what he …
“Mental Illness” – 1980 Suzuki GS1100 Trike
Post Listing Update: “Mental Illness” did not meet reserve despite 29 bids up to $9,100 on eBay. Alright, this really has nothing to do with a Suzuki GS1100, but that is how the crazy trike is titled in the state of Texas. It’s an entirely custom three-wheeler that utilizes a 5.3 liter LS1 motor with a C5 Corvette transmission…and a …
Electric Conversion – 1985 Trihawk
Designed by Lou Richards, the Trihawk 304 (3 wheels, 4 cylinders) was an interesting trike that was capable of cornering forces similar to a Lamborghini Countach (.91G) thanks to the wide front wheelbase and the low center of gravity. Introduced in 1982, the company was able to produce 96 units before Harley-Davidson bought them out in 1985 and stopped production. …

1977 Jawa 350TS with Velorex Sidecar
Finding a Jawa 350TS in decent shape is difficult enough, but this lovely example is paired with a Velorex sidecar as a bonus!
2019 Yamaha Niken
When I was at the Long Beach International Motorcycle Show, Yamaha reps said that the allotment of bikes to US dealership had already sold out. If that’s true, here’s an example where the rider who put down a deposit backed out – possibly because Yamaha has just announced the Niken GT (upgraded front suspension, center stand, heated grips, and other …
In Canada – 1966 Jawa Road King 350 with PAV 40 Trailer
As of this month, Jawa is back (in India). Historically the brand goes back to 1929, and one of its most successful models was based on their 350cc two-stroke twin. US riders are familiar with department stores such as Sears or Montgomery Ward that would sell motorcycles out of catalogs – Canada had a similar option through a store called …
Unusual Hack in England – 1999 Ducati 996 with Sidecar
Post Listing Update: This Ducati hack did not get any interest at the asking price of $13,626. Normally when you think of modifications made to a Ducati 996, the list includes rearsets, a tail tidy, and suspension. This one’s packing a little extra – a Watsonian Squire sidecar.
1955 Zundapp KS601 Sport with Steib Sidecar
In 1951, Zundapp introduced their last big bike – the KS601 (Kardan Sport). It got plenty of positive attention from the press, but Zundapp’s sales couldn’t compete with offerings from BMW. To combat this they expanded to a Sport model (with 34 horsepower, 6 up from the standard) and even offered multiple colors.
Death Notification – 2010 Tombstone Hearse
Post Listing Update: This hearse did not get any interest at the BIN of $55,000. For some riders, motorcycles are life. The guys at Tombstone Hearse have gone the extra mile so motorcycles can be death, too.
UK Nostalgia Project – Sidewinder Sidecar
Alright, so it’s not a motorcycle, it’s in the UK, and it needs a little bit of work. But I think the Sidewinder sidecar is very interesting, and they’re hard to find. Why are they so interesting? Because they’re all about flaunting the rules.
