Post Sale Update: This RZ500 sold for $11,700 on Iconic Motorbike Auctions in Marina del Rey, California.

Today on the auction site we’ve got an interesting project – a Yamaha RZ500 that’s spent the last three years outside in Santa Monica so it almost looks like it was dug up out of Atlantis.

I’m exaggerating, but there’s definitely plenty of corrosion throughout. That’s why the seller’s reserve was just $2,000, and that number was met early in the auction. Basically, it boils down to how mechanically savvy you are – you could make this a runner for quite cheap, and restoring the cosmetic issues wouldn’t break the bank as all the parts are there. We just hoping this finds a good home with someone that’s looking for an interesting project in the next few months!
