It’s been a little while since I’ve polled you guys and gals, and I’d like to change that thanks to a conversation I had with a stranger on a plane yesterday: what model year would be your sweet spot to buy a bike from?
Now I’m trying to figure out how old this bike is…
Obviously there’s going to be some flux here as some companies introduced certain pieces of technology to their bikes before others, but in the general spectrum of old bikes being a little fussier with points/carbs and new bikes being chock full of technology, where’s your happy spot? There’s no right answer, just tell us what you think (and more importantly, why)!
For the purposes of this hypothetical discussion, I’d ask that you ignore parts availability. Assume there’s no difficulty in finding the parts you’d need to maintain your bike, I want to focus more on the bikes themselves as they were sold at any given point of time.
1990 was a good year…but not my answer.
