Post-Sale Update: This Enterprise sold for $25,000…to a Bike-urious reader in France! It’s going to take a while but I’ll try to get more details about the story when possible. Obviously, this is going to need a full restoration, but what a piece of motorcycling history! The Enterprise was the vision of Orley Raymond Courtney, an incredible designer who sadly …
Suggestions for Costa Rica?
Loyal readers – I’m going to be in Costa Rica for the 2nd half of June. I share this for two reasons.
58k Miles – 1964 Honda Dream 305
Now this is impressive. This Dream has a healthy 58,000 miles on it – and only 350 were put on in the last 20 years!
Restored by Seller – 1952 BMW R51/3
Built over four years, the R51/3 was introduced in 1951. It was one of the first bikes BMW released after they were allowed to start creating motorcycles post WWII, so they took one of their pre-war designs and evolved it to prevent having to start from scratch.
$150K – 1917 Henderson Four Factory Racer
Looks like Heroes Motorcycles has performed a full restoration on what’s claimed to have been a factory racer Henderson Four. Not much information is given, but it’s powered by a 1,100 cc (67 cubic inch) engine. Wish there was more documentation of the restoration given, but I’m pretty much featuring this for the shock value of the sticker price.
1971 Rupp Roadster 2
Post-Listing Update: Despite 14 bids on eBay, this Rupp Roadster did not meet reserve at $1,536. In 1971, Rupp Manufacturing was flying high. The year prior, owner Mickey Rupp was honored as one of the “Outstanding Young Men of America”, and they had become more than a snowmobile manufacturer – they were also cranking out ATVs, go-karts, and mini-bikes. The …
Los Angeles to Seattle – A Few Days In Seattle
View PostThailand Taxi – Unknown Custom Trike
Guessing game time! This “taxi trike” was imported from Thailand many years ago. It spent time in a Hollywood collection and was in a few shows, like Murder She Wrote. Can anyone identify the parts used to make this thing?
< 2K Miles - 1989 Honda GB500
Post Sale Update: This GB sold for $5,000 after 24 bids on eBay. You’re all familiar with the Honda GB500, a bike that I have trouble not featuring. This example was bought by the seller in 2005, and it’s apparently taken him/her 10 years to realize s/he isn’t going to ride it. Now it’s your change to put some miles …
Video Intermission – Trophy Motorcycles
View Post1993 BMW K75S
You seemed to enjoy the cheap BMW K100RS tourer I featured a few days ago, so let’s follow that up with another cheap flying brick.
1957 AJS Model 30
A predecessor of the Model 31 I recently featured, this AJS Model 30 is thankfully ready to go as is.
Video Intermission – Kawasaki H2R at Isle of Man TT
If you like having eardrums, you’ll make sure that you listen to this through speakers and not through headphones. And if you like bikes, you’ll probably play this several times in a row. Good lord.
Ride to Work Day 2015
Ride to Work is a non-profit that champions the use of motorcycles (and scooters) for transportation. I’m such a big fan of this as I’ve found that motorcycles in the US are more often treated as a hobby than as a mode of transportation, especially when compared to other countries. Not that I look down on any rider that doesn’t …
Event Recap – 2015 AMCA National in Oley, PA
Let’s all thank reader David N, who attended this AMCA National and was kind enough to get his thoughts together so we can all see what it was like!
