Post Sale Update: This XLV sold for $4,595 after 3 bids on eBay in Luling, Texas. Before the Transalp and the Africa Twin, there was the XLV750R – Honda’s first attempt at a touring bike that could get a little dirty. Honda originally planned to sell this bike only in Europe (not including England), though they eventually offered it to …

1981 Honda Gorilla Z50J Tokyo LTD
Post Sale Update: This Gorilla sold for $2,550 after 21 bids on eBay in Austin, Texas. The nomenclature is pretty straightforward – what’s bigger than a Monkey? A Gorilla! Honda started offering a big brother to the Monkey in 1978, though they’re very difficult to find in the US. This one’s even harder to find, as it’s a limited edition …
New Auction Bike with No Reserve – 1990 Kawasaki Ninja 750R
Post Sale Update: This Ninja sold for $2,450 on Iconic Motorbike Auctions in Marina del Rey, California. Our general policy on the new auction site is that we don’t relist bikes that didn’t sell. But we make exceptions when a seller is willing to relist with no reserve so we know the bike’s going to a new owner! That’s the …
New Auction Bike – 2005 Honda RC51 SP2
Today on the auction site we’ve got a SP2 version of the Honda RC51 in the less-common black – and I love it because it’s got Sato pipes!
Still New For $8K – 2017 Honda Africa Twin DCT
Honda of Russellville in Arkansas has a leftover Africa Twin DCT that they’re offering up for $8,985 “out the door”. Considering the original retail price was nearly $14,000 plus tax/title/license, this represents quite a deal if you don’t feel the need to shift for yourself.

November Customs – 1991 Kawasaki Zephyr 750 Custom
Last month we featured an ’83 K100-based R80GS tribute project from the UK’s November Customs, and while I was a fan of their Bavarian build, it’s got nothing on their more recent 1991 Kawasaki Zephyr custom. Inspired by endurance racers, the Japanese four-banger features modern top-shelf components including inverted (Showa) Ducati 848 forks and triples, and Triumph Thruxton 1200 wheels …

This example’s got a few goodies such as a Graves slip on pipe and OFT Stage 2 …

Union Motorcycles Build – 2002 Ducati 900SS Custom
UPDATE: As noted by Union Motorcycles in the comments, this bike is not one of their builds. Something really magical happened in the fall of 2009. A group of guys, spending time together building motorcycles decided that they had enough interest in their work to start a company. Union Motorcycles say that they are careful to not call their work …
No Reserve – 1967 BMW R60 w/ 1.5L VW Engine
Post Sale Update: This custom R60 sold for $9,600 at RM Sotheby’s in Dayton, Ohio. This home-brewed oddity is based on a 1967 BMW R60. The unusual motorcycle was bought new in ’67 by one Lee Fikes, a Texas oil tycoon who wanted to ride the Bavarian bike two-up with his soon-to-be-wife to the Yucatan Peninsula for their honeymoon. Fearing …
UK Spec – 1986 Honda VF1000FF
The US first got a 1,000cc Interceptor from Honda in 1984 with the VF1000F. In Europe, the same bike was given the model name of VF1000FE. In April of 1985, the bike evolved into the VF1000FF, a model that was sold in Europe, Canada, Australia, and South Africa. The US never got the FF, which was discontinued in August 1987. …
Brand New – 2017 Bimota BB3
This was the bike that was supposed to save Bimota (again). Obviously, it didn’t, but here we’ve got a still new example of their swan song.
