Today on the auction site we’ve got a SP2 version of the Honda RC51 in the less-common black – and I love it because it’s got Sato pipes!
Still New For $8K – 2017 Honda Africa Twin DCT
Honda of Russellville in Arkansas has a leftover Africa Twin DCT that they’re offering up for $8,985 “out the door”. Considering the original retail price was nearly $14,000 plus tax/title/license, this represents quite a deal if you don’t feel the need to shift for yourself.
VW Powered – 1965 BMW R60/2 Sidecar
Post Sale Update: this Willis sold for $8,000 after 19 bids on eBay in Santa Ynez, California. You guys seemed to get a kick out of the VW-powered R60 Tim found earlier in the week, so here’s one that ups the ante with a sidecar!
November Customs – 1991 Kawasaki Zephyr 750 Custom
Last month we featured an ’83 K100-based R80GS tribute project from the UK’s November Customs, and while I was a fan of their Bavarian build, it’s got nothing on their more recent 1991 Kawasaki Zephyr custom. Inspired by endurance racers, the Japanese four-banger features modern top-shelf components including inverted (Showa) Ducati 848 forks and triples, and Triumph Thruxton 1200 wheels …
New Auction Bike – 2016 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory
Today on the auction site we’ve got a Tuono Factory from the first year of APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) – an advanced suite of electronics with traction control as well as independent wheelie and launch control that perfectly complements the glorious motor. This example’s got a few goodies such as a Graves slip on pipe and OFT Stage 2 …
New Auction Bike – 1997 Ducati 916
Today on the auction site we’ve got an example of one of the most beautiful motorcycles of all time. This one’s got just 294 miles on the odometer!
Union Motorcycles Build – 2002 Ducati 900SS Custom
UPDATE: As noted by Union Motorcycles in the comments, this bike is not one of their builds. Something really magical happened in the fall of 2009. A group of guys, spending time together building motorcycles decided that they had enough interest in their work to start a company. Union Motorcycles say that they are careful to not call their work …
No Reserve – 1967 BMW R60 w/ 1.5L VW Engine
Post Sale Update: This custom R60 sold for $9,600 at RM Sotheby’s in Dayton, Ohio. This home-brewed oddity is based on a 1967 BMW R60. The unusual motorcycle was bought new in ’67 by one Lee Fikes, a Texas oil tycoon who wanted to ride the Bavarian bike two-up with his soon-to-be-wife to the Yucatan Peninsula for their honeymoon. Fearing …
UK Spec – 1986 Honda VF1000FF
The US first got a 1,000cc Interceptor from Honda in 1984 with the VF1000F. In Europe, the same bike was given the model name of VF1000FE. In April of 1985, the bike evolved into the VF1000FF, a model that was sold in Europe, Canada, Australia, and South Africa. The US never got the FF, which was discontinued in August 1987. …
Brand New – 2017 Bimota BB3
This was the bike that was supposed to save Bimota (again). Obviously, it didn’t, but here we’ve got a still new example of their swan song.
Police Replica – 1967 Moto Guzzi V7
Post Listing Update: This Guzzi did not get any interest at the opening ask of $10,500. In 2009, the seller acquired this V7 from Bob Farris, a Moto Guzzi collector who had sourced the necessary items to create a Police replica but wasn’t able to complete all the work. Well, now it’s just about complete – everything is said to …
New Auction Bike – 1996 Aprilia RS250
Post Sale Update: This Aprilia sold for $6,650 on Iconic Motorbike Auctions in Fremont, California. Ending soon on the auction site we’ve got a CA-plated example of the Aprilia RS250. Back in 2012, Visor Down gushed over the RS250, saying “the real problem with the RS250 is that if you want one, a good one, you’re too late.” Well, here …
1970 Zundapp 100GS ISDT Replica
Post Sale Update: This Zundapp sold for $7,900 after 30 bids on eBay in Quincy, California. In the late 60s, Zundapp was having tremendous success at the ISDT with little bikes that emulated David vs. Goliath as they beat Husky 360s and Triumph 650s. As companies often do, Zundapp released a Replica of their 100GS for the public to enjoy.
CR750 Tribute – 1971 Honda CB750
Honda’s CR750 was an evolution of the ubiquitous CB750, sold in very limited numbers as kits to dealers to convert the stock bikes. Finding a genuine model is very difficult (and very expensive) nowadays, which is why riders often like to take current CB750s and turn them into their own versions of the CR. This one isn’t real, but it’s …
$3,430 Off – 2019 Husqvarna Svartpilen/Vitpilen 701
I’m a big fan of both the Vitpilen 701 and the Svartpilen 701, though an easy criticism is the $11,999 MSRP. But they sure get a lot more interesting if a dealer was knocking off $3,430 from the price…
